I have these areas of special interest:

Relationships

I help people who are experiencing relationship challenges, working to bring clarity and resolution. Relationships are the most important part of being a human, we need other people around us and we need to feel loved and supported. When relationships go wrong, it can feel devastating. Sometimes we get caught up in relationships where we are harmed, at first, we can't see this happening and our self-esteem takes a huge knock. I will help you take steps to recover from this.
I also help clients who are dating and who have a genuine desire to find a partner, to find healthier ways to communicate, and to give themselves the best possible chance of finding love.
Existing relationships may get caught in uncomfortable patterns and I can support you to process these dynamics and to courageously take responsibility for making changes.
Sometimes our own history causes difficulties in relationships, fortunately, this is an area that you can do something about, I will help you.

Anxiety
Anyone who has experience of severe anxiety will tell you that is is a horrible, overwhelming and often invisible experience that impacts day to day life in far reaching ways. Anxiety comes in many different forms, it often has its roots in our past. I'll help you to understand and manage the anxiety that's getting in the way of you living your life to the full.

Body Dysmorphia
I have an interest and expertise in working with people and families affected by body dysmorphia (BDD), this was the subject of my master’s thesis. I'm one of a few lived experience therapists working with this disorder. BDD is an extremely difficult issue to treat, the sooner therapy starts the better. Because of my personal experience, I hope that my clients who have BDD will find that I have insight into the dynamics and behaviours associated with BDD. If this is you, please be assured that you'll be treated with compassion and an appreciation of the huge challenge this presents. I am proof that recovery is possible.
You can find out more about the ways in which I support people who have appearance concerns or BDD, including The Body Dysmorphia Insight and Recovery Programme by visiting my BDD dedicated website here:

Institutional Harm and Abuse
I support people who have experienced institutional or organisational abuse or harm. Such difficulties are often accompanied by challenges such as shame, anger and isolation and are met with denial, deflection and coverups by the perpetrators. Whistleblowers too are often ostracised and unsupported, this is a tragic circumstance for anyone. It can take a long time to pick yourself up and start over. Whether you experienced harm in the workplace or in another organisation, or group, you are not alone, I'm here to support you.

Other Issues
I work with young men who are experiencing difficulties transitioning into healthy adulthood. Their issues often include self-esteem, anger and how to find life meaning and purpose. Other areas of interest include grief, addiction, and spiritual emergence.

How I Work
Sessions are generally weekly, however if you need more intensive therapy, I can offer up to three sessions a week and longer sessions where appropriate. If you have BDD and now isn't the right time for therapy, contact me and I'll let you know more about my online and live BDD course.
